From 29 september to 7 october 2022 the Suriname Athletics Federation has been the initiator an host of the World Athletics Level II trainers course in Sprints and Hurdles for the non-spanish speaking countries of South America, Suriname, French Guiana and Guyana.
The lecturers were Oscar Gadea from Uruguay and Raymond Gilson from Suriname. There were thirteen coaches out of which four were women. Nine of of the thirteen coaches passed the exams which consisted ofthree exams, a written and oral exam and the making of a microcycle for a sprinter. Each coach received a certificate of attendance from Olympic Solidarity and the Level II coaches certificate will be send by mail by World Athletics.
The Suriname Athletic Federation is content with the result of this first course and is motivated to do other projects with her sister federation in order to equip their coaches with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop the talent that is so richly present in this region. On behalf of the President Mr. Dennis Mac Donald the secretary of the federation thanked the lecturers and participants for their efforts and wished them godspeed in their new journey on a higher level.
