Guedes shines as Valencia get back on track with Girona victory

Valencia got back to winning ways with Goncalo Guedes shining as they came from behind to beat Girona 2-1 on Saturday.

Girona looked to use the wings on the counter-attack and after going close with a dangerous header from Juanpe, the visitors did take the lead with Portu nodding home a Mojica cross.

With Dani Parejo well marked by Alex Granell, it was Guedes who instigated Valencia’s fight back down the left wing.

It was his cross inside the area, looking for Rodrigo, which was put into his own net by Ramalho.

Valencia took control of the game but were denied the lead before the break when goalkeeper Bono did well to deny Gabriel Paulista.

At the start of the second half Jose Luis Gaya was brought down inside the box and Parejo dispatched the penalty.

In the final minutes Luciano Vietto was also given his debut by Marcelino but he was not able to add to Valencia’s advantage.
