Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes and Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young have been named as All-Star Game injury replacements, the league announced.
The pair will replace reigning MVP Joel Embiid and New York Knicks forward Julius Randle on the 12-man Eastern Conference roster.
Barnes, who’s averaging 20.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 5.8 assists, will be making his first appearance in the All-Star Game. Young will be playing in the game for the third time and is averaging 27.3 points and 10.9 assists.
Embiid injured his meniscus last Tuesday in a contest against the Golden State Warriors. The 29-year-old underwent surgery this week and will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks.
Meanwhile, Randle will be re-evaluated in two-to-three weeks after suffering a dislocated shoulder against the Miami Heat in late January.
The 2024 NBA All-Star Game will be held in Indianapolis on Sunday, Feb. 18. The game will return to the traditional East versus West format after previous years featured a player draft.
