Atlético Madrid were already aware that Jackson Martínez was not the only player being scouted by Chinese Super League clubs, because several other Atleti lads have also been either approached or offered moves to the Asian country.
Gabi and Tiago have both been approached, whilst Torres has offers on the table. It looks unlikely that any of them will be moving on just yet, despite the Chinese transfer window still being open, although deals could be brokered over the course of the summer.
‘El Niño’ has been considering an offer for some time. In fact, he has been considering quite a few, from Japan, United Arab Emirates and the United States, but especially from China, an emerging giant in world football, where the centre-forward could become one of the game’s highest-paid players.
There is also interest from China in Gabi and Tiago, as reported by ‘El Confidencial’. The Atlético central midfielders could have left in January with contracts worth three times what they are on now, but both players chose to stay on until the end of the season. In the captain’s case, he is under contract at Atlético until 2017 and he would not be against ending his career overseas. However, the Portuguese is out of contract at the end of this season and his agent is Jorge Mendes… who is having a hand in just about every big-money deal in the Chinese Super League.
