Cristiano Ronaldo: Real “ready” for any opposition

Cristiano Ronaldo spoke to UEFA.com following the hard-fought victory over Roma.

Ronaldo stressed that he won’t lose any sleep thinking about Real Madrid’s quarter-final opponents, who will be revealed at the draw a week on Friday, on 18th March: “Who we get doesn’t matter. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. There’s still a long way to go in the Champions League. We know that the quarters and semis will be even more difficult, but the team is ready”.

Keylor Navas’s key contribution: “Keylor has been a crucial player from the start of the season. In my opinion, he’s one of the side’s best players and is a top keeper. He’s playing very well and I’m made up for him”.

The threat posed by Roma: “We knew it was going to be a tough game. Roma had their chances and could have scored one or two goals, but we also had a lot of opportunities. It was an even game in the first half, but in the second Real Madrid played better, created more chances and scored two very important goals”.

On super sub Lucas Vázquez and comeback kid Gareth Bale: “Bale did very well, especially after being out for so long, and Lucas Vázquez did what we’ve grown used to seeing. He’s playing really well, he’s a fighter and when he comes on to the pitch he offers the team a lot”.
