During the presentation for his contract renewal, Cristiano Ronaldo had words of thanks to Don Alfredo di Stefano.
Moments after president Florentino Perez eulogised that the Portuguese was a worthy successor to La Saeta, the player remembered one of their meetings fondly.
“I have had the privilege of meeting Di Stefano, a legend to me,” Ronaldo said.
“He was great, telling me “Champion, continue, you’re the greatest,” and both he Raul will surely be happy for me.
“Obviously I want to score more and more goals because I want to play until I’m 41.”
