Remember the name Cristobal Del Solar.
The 30-year-old Chilean etched his name into the golf record books Thursday, carding a 13-under 57 on the Korn Ferry Tour’s Astara Golf Championship.
It marks the lowest single-round score ever at a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event.
Irishman David Carey recorded the only other round of 57 or lower on a professional golf tour on the developmental Alps Tour in 2019.
Jim Furyk’s 58 at the Travelers Championship in 2016 is the lowest round in PGA TOUR history. Three other golfers have recorded 58s on leading professional tours: Ryo Ishikawa and Kim Seong-hyeon on the Japan Tour in 2010 and 2021, respectively, and Bryson DeChambeau on LIV Golf in 2023.
There have also been 58s by Stephan Jaeger in 2016 on the Korn Ferry Tour (known as Web.com Tour at the time) and Alejandro Del Ray in 2021 on the Challenge Tour.
The Korn Ferry Tour is considered one level below the PGA TOUR.
Del Solar played his college golf at Florida State. He has four professional wins to his name, all coming on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica between 2018-2022.
