Ecuador call press conference to clarify Antonio Valencia injury news

The Ecuadorian Football Federeation (FEF) have called a press conference to clear up the uncertainty around key player Antonio Valencia‘s injury problems.

The Manchester United man posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed following surgery on Instagram on Monday, a day after his side’s 0-0 draw with Hull City on the final day of the Premier League season.

Along with the picture, Valencia wrote: “Thank God everything went well. And now just thinking about recovery.”

With the deadline for the final 23-man rosters of all Copa América squads set for June 1, the Ecuadorian’s fitness for the competition has subsequently come into question.

On Tuesday, the FEF announced that they would hold a press conference to clarify the issue.

“The FEF will give a press conference on Tuesday 26 of this month at 18:30 (local time) in Quito, to publicise everything related to the national team and Antonio Valencia,” a statement on their official website read.

Valencia was an integral part of Louis van Gaal’s Man United side that finished in fourth position in the Premier League, making 34 appearances.
