Ecuador’s 23-man squad for Copa América 2015 revealed

Gustavo Quinteros has announced his final Ecuador squad for the Copa América in Chile.

Antonio Valencia (Manchester United) is the most notable absentee from la Tri’s party as he was forced to withdraw from the preliminary list after undergoing surgery, while Ángel Mena (Emelec) also misses out due to injury.

Máximo Banguera (Barcelona Sporting Club), Luis Romero (Liga de Quito), Robert Arboleda (Universidad Católica), Pedro Larrea (Liga de Loja) and Fernando Hidalgo (Liga de Quito) are the other players who do not feature in the 23-man squad.

Ecuador will play Panama in a double-header of fixtures in the build-up to this summer’s tournament, with the ties lined up for June 3 and June 7.

La Tricolor head to the capital of Panama City for their first game, before returning home to Quito for their second friendly in four days. Quinteros’ men have won just one of their last five games and have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Chile, regular invitees Mexico and 1963 tournament winners Bolivia.
