Real Madrid’s transfer ban carries with it some serious consequences for other clubs going forward. One of these, according to reports in L’Equipe on Friday, is the effect it will have on French giants PSG’s transfer strategy for next season.
The French side had their sights on signing Cristiano Ronaldo next summer. He teased the Paris club during Real Madrid’s Champions League tie and it was very clear that Cristiano and the club were huge fans of each other and there was bound to be news of a deal once the season ended.
However, according to ‘L’Equipe’, Real Madrid’s FIFA ban, which will – unless the club successfully appeals it – prevent Los Blancos from signing anyone this summer, has forced PSG to shift their focus. Fully aware that Real Madrid will not let their star player leave whilst still serving the ban, the French club has shifted its focus to Barcelona.
The man now topping their transfer wish list is Neymar. PSG’s summer transfer kitty would be significantly boosted by Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s more than probable departure at the end of the campaign. Losing the Swede from their wage bill would also free up some cash to go after Barça’s Brazilian star.
