Tyrese Haliburton suffered a hamstring strain in the second quarter of the Indiana Pacers’ 133-131 win over the Boston Celtics. He was carried off by teammates with just over three minutes remaining in the half. Haliburton will undergo an MRI on Tuesday, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Haliburton landed awkwardly after slipping while driving into the paint. Haliburton recorded seven points on 3-of-5 shooting before exiting, along with six assists and two rebounds in 15 minutes. Pacers wing Bennedict Mathurin stepped up in Haliburton’s absence, scoring 26 points off the bench. The 23-year-old is the engine of the Pacers’ offense, averaging 24.7 points and a league-leading 12.7 assists per game. Indiana is 20-15 on the season and 1-2 without him in the lineup. Haliburton led the franchise to the inaugural In-Season Tournament championship game in December, where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.
