In this part of our exclusive interview with Claudio Ranieri, he spoke about whether he’ll be able to avoid his trailblazing Leicester team being broken up at the end of the season.
Do you think you’ll be able to keep N’Golo Kanté, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez at the club?
I believe so. Mahrez and Kanté are just getting started, neither is over 25. They both have a lot of talent but they need to take things slow. And we all know the story with Vardy.
Would they be able to make the step up to a bigger club?
Only time would tell. Here at Leicester, they’re kings. Everything is going their way and they’re all happy, but when you go to a big club, the pressure is huge and you have to deliver all the time.
And what about your future?
I’m happy at Leicester and I’m not thinking about going anywhere. I think this will be my last club. I hope they give me a long contract, for six or seven years, and then I can retire here.
