The team also wore the jerseys during the 2020 playoffs, which culminated with them winning their 17th NBA championship.
Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash in 2020 at the age of 41, will be the seventh Lakers great to be commemorated with a statue, joining Elgin Baylor, Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Jerry West, and broadcaster Chick Hearn.
Bryant’s statue will be unveiled at Star Plaza outside Crypto.com Arena prior to Thursday’s game.
