Match preview : Roma vs Villareal

Villareal travel to Rome on mission impossible trying to compensate four goals from the first game.

Roma completely trashed Villareal and what should have been an exciting duels between two teams with attacking aspirations turned out to be Roma’s demonstration of power.

Edin Džeko was unstoppable for Villareal’s back line and with three goals scored against the Yellow Submarine become Europa League’s top scorer with eight goals, one more than Athletic Bilbao’s eternal youngster – Aritz Aduritz. The Bosnian and Herzegovian international is having a terrific season as he’s also Serie A’s top scorer with 19 goals in 25 games.

Roma continued their rampant form at the weekend with 4-1 victory over Torino with fantastic performance from Radja Nainggolan and four different scorers.

On the other side, Villareal bounced back after two LaLiga draws and heavy defeat in the Europa League with a hard fought victory against Real Sociedad.

In a a very strange game in which Sociedad had 64% ball possesion and 16 shots, but none of them went on target. Villareal threatened mostly from dangerous counter-attacks, but weren’t able to take to lead until the 94th minute when Castillejo converted Jaume Costa’s cross.

The Yellow Submarine are sitting in the sixth place in the LaLiga, two points less than Real Sociedad so this victory was that more important.
