Neymar given No.10 as Brazil announce numbers for Copa América

Brazil have revealed the numbers that the 23 players in Dunga‘s squad have been assigned for Copa América 2015, with Neymaragain sporting the No.10.

The number was previously regularly worn by Oscar, but, ahead of World Cup 2014 in Brazil, the Barcelona star requested to have it on his shirt.

Former stars to have adorned the famous No.10 for the Seleção include three-time World Cup winner – and another Santos icon – Pelé, Zico and Rivaldo.

Thiago Silva was stripped of the captaincy by Dunga and now also loses the No.3 shirt, which the coach instead hands to Miranda who forms part of his favoured centre-back pairing with David Luiz.

Diego Tardelli was Brazil’s No.9 for their 2-0 friendly victory over Mexico on Sunday and there will be no change for him in Chile.

The Seleção – who face Honduras on June 10 in Porto Alegre for their final pre-tournament friendly – have been drawn in Group C alongside Peru, Colombia and Venezuela.
