Neymar: “I’d love to work with Guardiola”

Barcelona star Neymar has stated that he’d jump at the chance to play under none other than former ‘Azulgranas’ boss Pep Guardiola. The Brazilian voiced his admiration for the Catalan coach in an interview he held with Red Bull to promote the 5-a-side street football cup he is “proud” to be running in conjunction with the Austrian brand.

When he was asked whether he’d like to work with a particular manager in the future, Neymar did not beat around the bush: “Yes, there is one: Guardiola is a guy that I really admire and who I would love to work with”.

While highlighting that he is “very happy” at Barça right now, Neymar acknowledged that he’d like to sample ‘soccer’ in the USA one day, as well as playing back in his homeland: “I want to go back to Brazil some day and I also would like to play in the United States – those two countries are where I want to play later on my career”.

Looking ahead to this summer’s Olympics in Rio, Neymar is convinced that the event will run very smoothly and optimistic that Brazil can finally capture an elusive gold medal in football, the only major trophy that the ‘Seleção’ have never won.
