Neymar to stand up in court

Neymar has been summoned to declare in a Brazilian court of justice following a lawsuit filed by the DIS group.

This business organisation is the owner of 40% of the player’s image rights and is in disagreement over the amounts received concerning Neymar’s signing with Barça.

DIS has sued as it argues that it has not received its fair share of the money pertaining to the amounts declared by Barcelona president Josep María Bartomeu regarding the player’s transfer back in 2013.

The date when the Barça forward will have to appear before the Brazilian authorities has not yet been set, but the judge presiding over the case has already given Wagner Ribeiro, the man who takes care of the player’s businesses, five days to appear in court, with the documents regarding the Santos-Barcelona transfer in hand.

DIS received their part of the €17.1 million (more than $19 million), the amount that was first declared, but not their share of the €90 million that the Barça president eventually admitted was paid out for the player.

On 1st August 2013, Barcelona informed FIFA that the Neymar deal had cost them €17.1 million plus two more in the event that the player won the Ballon d’Or. However, there is also a massive €40million that was paid out to Neymar’s family company in the deal.
