Pau Gasol misses out on the All-Star Game: “It’s unfair”

On his return to Los Angeles, Pau Gasol was outstanding in the Chicago Bulls’ away win over his friend Kobe Bryant’s LA Lakers by 91-114 but said that it was “unfair” not to be called up to play in the NBA All-Star Game. With the reserves now named, the Spaniard described his exclusion as “disappointing”.

The Spaniard had already warned that same morning during a Bulls shooting practice at UCLA (University College of Los Angeles) that it would be “unfair” if he were not included amongst the players taking part in the match on 14th February in Toronto. “And that’s what happened in the end”, said the Catalan inside the dressing room at the Staples Center.

“Firstly, I’d like to congratulate those who were picked. I can only control what I can control, which is playing at the level I am. It’s a shame because I’d have really liked to be picked after coming so close to the starting line-up, but the coaches have decided on others”, he said.
