Peru hold Colombia to scoreless draw to qualify for last eight

Peru booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Copa América with a 0-0 draw against Colombia – a result that leaves the latter’s continued participation in the tournament in doubt.

A tight game in Temuco saw defences on top, though Peru goalkeeper Pedro Gallese was called into action on several occasions in the first half.

The game became rather fractious after the break, though Los Incas were happy enough to pick up the point they needed to make the knockout stages.

The result means they will qualify from Group C, though where they finish depends on the result of the game between Brazil and Venezuela later on Sunday.

Colombia will be hoping there is a positive result in the final fixture in Santiago, meaning they would progress as one of the two best third-placed teams.
