Real to Liverpool: “Odegaard is not for sale”

Not for sale”. Real Madrid‘s answer when other clubs come knocking on their door asking for Odegaard couldn’t be clearer. The Madrilenian club have no doubts on the matter – their Norwegian boy, who arrived at the gates of the BernabĂ©u nearly a year ago, will not be going anywhere for some time, as they have plans for him.

The last man to come sniffing has been Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. As the young and talented midfielder hasn’t been able to get much of a look-in with the first team since his arrival last 22nd January, the English club was hoping to be able to persuade him that he’d have a much better time of it dressed in red, under the orders of a manager specialised in getting the best out of young talent. Real Madrid, however, are not even willing to entertain such an idea.

Florentino and Co. jumped through a lot of hoops to reel in the Norwegian starlet, who is on the wanted list of many top European clubs, and are convinced that this rough diamond, with the right polishing, could one day win a Ballon d’Or. The idea is to keep him coming on as a player until he is ready to become a regular fixture in the first team.

This is all well and good, but Real run the risk of trying the youngster’s patience for too long. He has only to pick up the phone to find himself a place in thePremier League, among others. For now at least, he is content to play ball with ‘Los Blancos’ and wait for his chance to make it into the big time.
