Achange at the top looks to be drawing closer for the Spanish national team. Coach Vicente del Bosque has dropped several hints in recent months about stepping down after the Euros and remains wedded to that idea if his latest comments are anything to go by: “It may be healthy for everyone for me to leave after the European Championship. I’d be up for carrying on, but eight years is a long time”.
Speaking during an appearance on TV show El Hormiguero to promote his book ‘Winning and Losing: Emotional Strength”, Del Bosque sounded an upbeat note about this summer’s showpiece in France, which will be his fourth major tournament in charge.
“We’re in high spirits, we have a great team and if we won it, it’d be our third European crown on the bounce, which is a very difficult achievement”, Del Bosque stated.
The former Real Madrid boss also insisted that Spain will draw on the memory of their woes at the 2014 World Cup, when ‘La Roja’ failed to make it out of their group, to avoid similar disappointment this time round: “The experience in Brazil will stand us in good stead for this tournament”.
