Transvaal women’s champion French Atol Itany Cup

The women’s senior football selection of Transvaal has become champions of the Atol Itany Cup in French-Guyana, passing the Brazilian FC Oyapock 3-2. It was the second edition of international tournament for ladies U18 and senior clubs.

 

 

The front runner of the SVB ladies First Division conquered in the group stage consecutively, Yana Sport Elite with 2-0, after which Loyala OC2 was dried out with 7-0 and the third and most difficult match against FC Oyapock was tied with 1-1 and still with penalties in favor of the Transie ladies decided.
In the semi-final that was played the same Friday night, the Transvaal ladies managed to win with free kicks from the penalty spot after a 0-0 final score (regular game time), and to qualify for the grand final that was finished Saturday morning.

The final was played against the same FC Oyapock, against whom the Transie ladies played equally in the group stage and then managed to pack with penalties. In the final, the ladies of Transvaal finished the job in regular game time, 3-2. The goals for Transie were scored by Royanie Karjasemita, Pamela Ansoe and Shamaira Stekkinger.

 

 


The successful team led by trainer-coach Daniel Monsanto and his assistant and ex-ladies Natio international Aisa Smith, who is almost certain of the championship at home, is now also taking home the first international cup, the Atol Itany Cup on French soil. In addition to the championship achieved, striker and wing striker Pamela Ansoe became the top scorer and made central defender Priya Goedhart the most beautiful distance goal of the tournament.

 


The international Atol Itany Cup women’s tournament, including the final, was finished at the Edmard LAMA stadium in Cayenne. The champion team of the Transvaal ladies returns home with the cup on Sunday.
